Hello Students! Hope you all are doing well.
Your board exams are close. So, I want to discuss something very relevant for you on the days of the examinations.
Nowadays, the word depression or frustration has become very common for us, right? Especially for students! Often, we read in newspapers or maybe from some other source that pressure of studies has increased exponentially among youngsters, which they are unable to bear and are finally falling into the infinite loop of over-thinking, frustration, and depression.
Let us try to figure out the root cause of these. Let us try to find out why students are taking studies as a source of PRESSURE and ANXIETY?
Honestly, you all know what exactly you are afraid of. You are not afraid that you may fail to answer a question or that you may fail to learn the formulae. What you are really afraid of is the OUTCOME, which is the RESULT! You are more worried about the reaction that your parents, your relatives, and your neighbors show at your failure. And these kinds of thoughts flood the whole mind and finally, you would end up overthinking things that don’t even exist.
First of all, stop thinking about all these useless things. You MUST engrave one thing in mind that a class 10th board result or class 12th board result is not going to define YOUR WHOLE LIFE!
Even if someone gets 60% in class 12th boards instead of 95%, it is not the end of the world for that person! A single exam is not going to decide the whole course of anyone’s life! Yes, you may lose a few opportunities, but you may get several other ways of success through which you may prove yourself.
Remember, your parents are your greatest well-wishers. They just want to see you succeed in your life.
Another thought that is creating the problem is the feeling of ‘REGRET’. Yes, have you ever tried to think that what exactly we think when we fail in any kind of exam? Most of the things that wander in our mind are like “I wish I would have learned this properly”! What exactly are you doing here? You are REGRETTING.
This regret is another source of frustration. Once a person overcomes this, 90% of his/her problems go away within seconds!
Now, see, you are not going to achieve anything by regretting something that has gone in the past. Instead of regretting your past mistakes, you should take a lesson from them.
Try to give your best while preparing for the exam. Automatically it will help to grow the required confidence in you.
All of us have 24 hours only to use in a day and a successful person utilizes his time more judiciously and efficiently. So, why not use the time properly in a balanced way?
Most of the time, students face a typical problem complaining “I can’t study this particular subject”. Suppose you are a student of standard 11th and your favorite subject is physics and chemistry gives you nightmares. You can score very well in physics, but you barely pass in Chemistry every time.
It is well known that you can’t score a good overall percentage even if you receive full marks in physics and just passing marks in chemistry. Here comes a simple strategy, which we all know but prefer to keep avoiding just because we are always reluctant to leave our comfort zone.
The strategy is – Never neglect a subject in which you are weak. Instead of neglecting it, try to give it more time than any other subject. Thinking this way, both your fear and the feeling of burden would be lessened, and you would start gaining confidence.
Think of an example of courage and confidence, we have Arunima Sinha. She was a former national volleyball player, got her leg cut due to a terrible accident in 2011. But, she was still left with that much confidence that she ended up being the first female amputee to climb Mount Everest in 2013, within a short span of two years.
Well, we all know the stories of the rabbit and the turtle and that of the hardworking spider, right? Both the turtle and the spider give us the moral that hard work and patience can bring up even seemingly impossible changes. Now if they can, why can’t we?
